Aborted/Abbreviated Hike

On the north side of Tortugas
When Becca and I got to the trailhead on the west side of Tortugas Mountain this morning we had to abort the hike immediately.  We stepped out of the car, saw the rain coming in a wave, and quickly got back in again.  It wasn't until 10:30 a.m. that we were able to go back out.  I chose the north side of of the mountain because the rock substrate lies close to the surface of the trail there, and that kept us from getting muddy.  We did get sprinkled on for most the shortened hike, though.

So glad you've got rain Rob! In Australia, the desert blooms after rain (according to the wildlife docos). I hope the ground gets a good drenching.
