Flash Flood Watch

Desert Cottontail
Becca and I were able to get a long hike in before the rain picked up again.  It had been raining during the night.  We've had some pretty strong rains this afternoon, and we remain under a flash flood watch until late Wednesday.  I heard on the news that the heat index for Chicago would be near 100 degrees today, perhaps the hottest of the summer.  We'll be lucky if we make it into the mid-70s here in the Chihuahuan Desert.  It's nice to have such a respite, but we don't want any flooding even though we really need the precipitation.

Low 90s and high humidity through Thursday here, Packrat. Then, I hear, the high next Monday will be in the upper 60s--my kind of weather!

I wonder how the rabbits take shelter during a rainstorm.

I'm with you. I really prefer the kind of weather where you have to wear a jacket. Dr. K, on the other hand, likes it when the weather is really warm.

Dr. K:

My guess is that rabbits really don't seek shelter--other than crouching under a bush. Plenty of animals simply put up with getting wet, and probably only climb to higher ground when endangered.
