Beautiful photo of the horse on the side of the trail.
Love the light and shadow on the mountains and the brush. Stunning scenery!
Is this tree work going to set you back significantly?
Beautiful photo of a beautiful horse, Dr. K.
:)
Thank you, Jacqui. The high desert around High Rolls is gorgeous.
It's going to cost us several thousand bucks, Scott, but less than half of what we'd pay the company this young man works for. He and a helper are going to do the work on weekends, and they're going use a chipper rather than trying to cart all the dead wood out of there. It's going to be expensive, yes, but the amount of work to be done is really rather staggering. It's got to be done, though, for several reasons: fire hazard first, and to protect the other pinyons growing on the property. The number of trees that have died off is stunning. When we bought the property (about four years ago) the trees were healthy, and we could never have imagined the damage done by pinyon needle scale and bark beetles.
:(
Can the trees be sprayed routinely to prevent the death from the scale and beetles? As you may remember, I'm having our trees in Colorado sprayed to prevent just such a problem.
