Dynamic Day on the Grand View

Spotted Towhee searching for breakfast
Because the chance of rain was 50% this morning Dr. K, Becca and I got an early start on the Grand View Trail.  It felt wonderful out there:  partly cloudy and cool with a stiff breeze.  At times rain seemed more imminent than at others, but we never got wet, although Dr. K claimed to have felt a single drop during our trek.

We did the entire length of the trail and back without seeing another person, but there was a pickup truck parked near the trailhead when we got back; that hiker or hikers probably headed down the Bridal Veil Falls Trail.

When we got back to our place it seemed a good idea to do some yard work, and I used our lithium-battery-powered lawnmower to cut grass and weeds from our road, driveway and front yard.  I was able to do it all in under an hour, so it felt like a job well done.

So many good photos on this post I can't decide which one I like the most. Maybe it's the second photo captioned "Looking into the Tularosa Basin." It's nice that we got a break from the hot weather today.
