Just getting started on the Sierra Vista Trail Norte |
Dr. K and I left early to do a hike on the Sierra Vista Trail Norte this morning, and there were already quite a few people in the parking lot when we got there. It was, perhaps, the busiest we've ever seen it, with groups of runners, mountain bikers and hikers everywhere. We encountered quite a few during our trek, the most rewarding of which was bumping into a guy (going and coming) who was hiking with his two friendly dogs (Beau and Lee), both of whom came over to say hello to us.
We decided to hike beyond Black Mountain and to climb all the way up to the gate close to the beautiful home that has two corrals on its lower property. There we turned around and headed back. We would have made the trek all the way to Soledad Canyon Road, but Dr. K didn't have time enough to do it, and I had to get back in order to head for Home Depot to buy two cans of Flex Seal to spray around our leaky skylight, which sprung a leak during last night's storm. It's a shame we didn't have more time because the weather was perfect: cloud cover, lower temperature and a constant breeze to take the edge off the high humidity.

It was a nice hike even though we missed Becca. Those are gorgeous photos of the barrel cacti.
