Friday Ramble


Research Associate Becca was so anxious to get out into the desert this morning, she whimpered all the way. These people camping at the Monte Vista parking lot on the east side of Tortugas Mountain got an even earlier start.

We have never seen as many Lesser Nighthawks as we did this morning--easily several dozen individuals hunting for insects along the southern foothills. Here's one, displaying remarkable camouflage.
