We did something we rarely do when hiking because we're abundantly respectful of wilderness and its potential dangers. We took a wrong turn off the main Rim Trail and ended up lost, hiking at least two extra miles to retrace our steps and get back on the right path. Even more astonishing is the fact that we've hiked this section of the trail at least seven or eight times before. We decided we must have distracted ourselves through conversation and inadvertently taken a side trail without realizing it. We felt foolish (and extra tired) upon reaching the car.

Even getting lost can be fun, at least for a little while.
