Thwarted by Horses

First sunlight, Sacramento Mountains
Just as we reached the midway ramada on the Grand View Trail this morning we were brought up short by some equestrian diners who were impervious to our presence.  We've run into these characters before, but we were able to get around them that last time.  This time they were on a narrow section of trail that prevented us from passing by.  Although the horses seemed docile enough we were unsure about how they'd react to Becca so we made the decision to turn around and head back to our car.  We weren't overly disappointed by our abbreviated hike, though, because the wind was really whipping out there, with no apparent let-up in the near future.
In the juniper forest

Good spot in the mountains

More sunlight now

In search of her buds again

Juniper and pines

Tree layers

High wind doing strange things to the clouds

Becca way ahead of the pack

Who's this on the trail ahead?

Junipers growing on a cliff

Having a bite to eat

There were three altogether

Probably named "Blackie"

There they are

Why the long face?

Robin Red Breast

That first photo is truly beautiful, Packrat. I liked seeing those horses, but just wish we could have found a way to go around them.
