Desert Marigolds

We abbreviated our normal morning trek because it was already too hot in our section of the northern Chihuahuan Desert, hiking down LDR-A, partially up LDR and into a shady arroyo fifty paces or so off the beaten track. We saw somebody in a blue shirt bushwhacking west of us, but we never got a good look at the person nor encountered him/her.
Who we did encounter on the way back up LDR-A was a woman running with her rowdy dog, who, fortunately, was on a lead. It was one of those meetings where the canines immediately dislike each other and, feeling territorial at the end of their leashes, bark and lunge at one another. Unfortunately Willow was super aggressive, and it took all my strength to hold her back; she might not look it, but she's an incredibly powerful dog. Of course Frio got into the fray as well, but I can control him more easily. Holding them both back did nothing for my still-recovering sore ribs.
After that it was a short ride home, both Dr. K and I feeling miserable about Willow's behavior.
