Sunday Stroll

Becca and Dr. K
We took a long, pleasant hike around Tortugas Mountain this morning.  It felt pretty hot out there because there was little wind.  95 days without rain has also taken its toll on the flora; everything is incredibly dry.  I couldn't find even one leaf on any Ocotillo I inspected.  Normally, Ocotillos conserve energy in a fascinating way; they drop their leaves when not enough moisture is present, thereby pausing the process of photosynthesis.  But without rain in over three months, they haven't even leafed out yet.

That leafless ocotillo shows us how dry the desert is.

Great photo of the two of you! I hope Dr. K's back is feeling better.
