Just Shy of Three Hours

Western Wallflower
We did a long hike along the Rim Trail this morning, clocking in at just under three hours.  We had the whole place to ourselves.  The temperature was just right--in the low 60s--and the occasional breeze kept us feeling comfortable.  The trail looked muddy in sections, but it wasn't; a dirt biker had driven through while the trail was still wet and churned up the earth.  I realize that there have to be multiple-use trails, but I hate to see the ground chewed up by these internal-combustion machines.  It's even worse when you encounter the bikers in person.
I think this is a Sticky Purple Geranium

I hope Becca never catches one of those squirrels she loves to chase.

I like the forest canopy views featuring the intensely blue sky.

Some of the trails in my preserve are multiple-use, and the bicyclists (and equestrians) do the same thing to our trails as the mountain biker did to the Rim Trail. That's why we don't allow horses and bikes on all the trails, but equestrians and bikers don't understand (or, more likely, just don't care).

The dirt bikers we've encountered on the Rim Trail have always been friendly and courteous, but it drives me to distraction that people claim to "enjoy" the environment while making a racket with their internal-combustion engines.
