Tricked by a Trickster

Centennial High School and the Doña Ana Mountains
Just as Becca and I crested the high foothills trail this morning a Coyote was making its way up the mountain.  Upon seeing us it moved rapidly.  I whistled to get its attention, but he headed to the road above us, stopping only briefly to look back.  I could see him turn left on the road, so Becca and I backtracked in order to try to catch sight of him again.  We even climbed up to the road at a point further north, but, as is often the case, we never saw the Trickster again.  I swear Coyotes are smart enough to lead you to believe they're going to do one thing before they do the other.
