It was cool at the start of our trek (54F), but after our brief layover in Second Arroyo the temperature started to rise; it felt fairly hot on the inbound leg of our hike. We're headed for a high of 92F or 93F today--well above normal for mid-October.

These photos show how the desert is beginning to brown out because of the change of season, even though the warm temperatures make it feel like it's still summer.
