Change of Course

B&W X
Instead of hiking up to First or Second Arroyo this morning we crossed the Tellbrook Arroyo and headed east along a trail that leads to a small arroyo we often explore.  We turned north into that arroyo and, after a short while, began bushwhacking through the desert southwest of Tortugas Mountain.

A bit tired of our daily routine I decided on the change of course, and the minor arroyos we meandered through had enough small trees and bushes to provide a modicum of shade.  The Heelers appreciated every stop we made because of the heat and lack of wind.

We didn't see any critters today, not even the omnipresent desert hares that populate this area.  Just as well; I didn't wanted Frio or Willow to give chase in this more densely overgrown area of desert.

I hope you're able to photograph the process of that Prickly Pear fruit blossoming in the coming days.
