Beating the Wind

Becca and I got in a long hike west of Tortugas Mountain before the wind picked up this morning.  We're under a high-wind warning for today and tomorrow.  It was pleasant when we were on the trail, however, and we took full advantage of the calm.  We saw a beautiful Scott's Oriole west of the mountain, and it was patient enough to let me get a good photo.  The video of the bird contains a snippet of its song right at the start, but it wouldn't sing again.  Instead it was listening to another Oriole singing nearby.

Great set of images, Packrat. I especially like the first image with the varied colors and the shaded, curvaceous slopes; well done! And, of course, the oriole shot is very nice, as is the exuberant blooming yucca. A good day was had by all.

Thanks, Scott. Good thing we had a good day yesterday because today was anything but. Blustery doesn't even begin to describe it.
