Coyote Serenade

Goldfinch in our yard
Ms. Beckster and I did a moderately long hike west of Tortugas Mountain early this morning; there was nobody else around when we got out to the Sunset Area parking lot.  As we crested the high foothills trail and began our descent back into the lower desert two separate groups of Coyotes began singing to each other across the valley.  They sounded really close, but we never even got a glimpse of them.  That's how Coyotes are:  if they don't want you to see them you won't.
