The naturalist Joseph Wood Krutch liked the desert most in the summertime because he believed it revealed its true character then. Well, the desert was most like itself this morning as Becca and I baked in the sun. Here she is taking a shade break.
The long and dusty road.
This Little-Leaf Sumac on the right looked for the longest time as if it was dying; then a few good rains brought it to life.
Yuccas, an Ocotillo and the long expanse of desert between Las Cruces and El Paso.

Like Krutch, I think the desert is truly the desert in the summer. Does that make sense?
