Late Heat


Because this morning was provision resupply day here at the Chihuahuan Observation Center, Research Associate Becca and I got off late. We had to endure the heat, as did these hikers on the northern flank of Tortugas, who were on a guided tour.

What none of us wants to see flying overhead--Turkey Vulture.

This arroyo has made a deep cut in the earth in the foothills of Tortugas.

The trail east around the mountain's north flank.


Mellow yellow.
