Chihuahuan Desert Morn

A stiff breeze kept the temperature bearable this morning as Research Associate Becca, Dr. K and I hiked around Tortugas Mountain. Here's one of the vistas that greeted us: the southern reaches of the Organ Mountains.

Southern flank of Tortugas with the Organs in the background.

A White-Wing Dove and a sparrow cohabiting a yucca.

A view across the desert to the Organs.

This nest in a yucca could belong to a Cactus Wren.
