Quick Morning Jaunt


Starting out this morning well within the shadow of Tortugas.

The sun just beginning to peek over the mountain.

Yucca halo.

The sun reaches us.



Yucca and Ocotillos on the mountain's steep western flank.

The yucca in that photo...is it related to the Spanish Bayonet? We had some at our home in Phoenix, and they've been planted along the running route I usually take here in Prescott.

Matt, it seems that the yucca and Spanish Bayonet would be from the same family of plants (genus?).

Those ocotillo are very dramatic against the sky.

Matt: The yucca you ask about--the Torrey Yucca--is also called Spanish Dagger. Spanish Bayonet is Yucca faxoniana. But, obviously, they are related; they both have Spanish fathers.
