Barrel cactus with buds

Dr. K, Willow and I did our regular desert route this morning; it was hot with only a slight, intermittent breeze out there.  We took several breaks, one at the ancient Soaptree Yucca to get a drink of water.  We saw nobody else in our small section of northern Chihuahuan Desert during the trek.
