Hummers at Home

Willow in ocotillo shade yet again
We got down to about 65F last night so the cooler was working extra efficiently, in part, due to the very low humidity.  Both Dr. K and I were cold when we were having breakfast; therefore we were eager to get out on the trail and expose ourselves to the desert sun.  Sun did the trick.  Willow was anxious to do the hike just because she likes hiking; good enough reason, no doubt.  We followed our regular route today.
Stinging Serpent flowers

Prickly Pear fruit

White-lined Sphinx Moth caterpillar

Barrel cacti

Chihuahuan Greater Earless Lizard

This & next:  probably a female Rufous Hummingbird

House Finch in mesquite tree

We saw a lot of caterpillars on the hike this morning. For once it was good to feel the heat of the desert.
