Crying Wolf

First 2:  Ocotillos and cloudy sky
Desert was absolutely beautiful this morning, though still quite humid.  Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I did our regular hike and enjoyed it immensely; well, at least Frio and Willow did.

We saw a juvenile Swainson's Hawk, which was probably the same one we saw last week.  It was making that plaintive "crying out" call, and when I googled it I found a site that said many juvenile raptors "cry wolf" soon after they've fledged because, even though their parents have taught them how to hunt, they lack experience capturing prey.

I got a few OK images of the hawk, but I could never get a clear view of it.

Lovely photos from this morning, Packrat. I especially like the ones of the juvenile Swainson's Hawk and also the artsy image of the Desert Marigold.
