All Around Tortugas

Around the north side of the mountain
We left the car in the Sunset parking area this morning and started hiking clockwise around Tortugas (Tortoise) Mountain.  There was quite a bit of automobile traffic on Dripping Springs Road on the north side of the mountain, but once we got on the east side away from the road we saw nobody--for the rest of the hike.  At first it was pretty cold, with a stiff wind lowering the wind-chill factor; but by the time we'd gone halfway around the mountain the sun had warmed things up substantially.  It was good to be alone in the desert outback.
