Starting Low, Ending High

Definitely being spied on
Becca and I did a quick hike west of Tortugas Mountain this morning before returning home to finish packing for a trip to the high country.  Now we're at our place in High Rolls reveling in cooler temperatures.  Upon our arrival Becca's buddies Champ and Cowboy showed up to greet us.  As we drove in we passed very close to one of our neighbor's horses, such that he was looking right into my opened driver's-side window.  Becca barked at him.  Then we saw one of our neighbor's goats relaxing at the side of the narrow road.  Al animals were exuding that high-country calmness we so much admire.
It's a Desert Cardinal

Desert Cardinals are called Pyrrhuloxias

Incredibly good photos of the Desert Cardinal, Packrat. And it sure is nice to be up in the high country with you and Becca.
