The hot Chihuahuan Desert |
Becca and I took a hike in the foothills of Tortugas Mountain this morning. It was already hot. After making a loop through the lower desert we climbed back into the higher foothills where Becca spotted a solitary deer cautiously navigating through the rugged terrain. It's not a rare thing to spot a deer on its own, but generally there are a few individuals together in a small herd. I wondered if the young doe had gotten separated from its family.

Nice lighting on the deer and ocotillos.
That looks like a young deer--I hope it's going to be OK.
Much appreciated, Scott.
