Rocky Mountain High

Dr. K, Research Associate Becca and I got off to an early start in Soledad Canyon this morning. We hadn't been there in months, and the stiff canyon breeze had a definite hint of early Autumn in it. What a relief. This was one of the first vistas that greeted us, an up-close-and-personal look at the rugged Organ Mountains.
The flowers--like this purple beauty--were abundant.
There was an abundance of chapulines (grasshoppers) too; here's one whose color is rather Kermit-the-Frog-esque.
Are those sunflower seeds in the center of this smiling specimen?
These purple, funnel-shaped flowers are, I believe, Bush Morning Glory. They were glorious.
