Birds, Bullet Holes and Deer

Off to an early start on the Monte Vista side of Tortugas Mountain, Dr. K, Research Associate Becca and I heard honking sounds high in the sky above us. Looking up, we saw this line of migrating birds. They sounded like snow geese, but in the photo their wings look too long.
Obligatory photo of hill with Organ Mountains in the background.
This is what you don't want to see propped up in the desert: thick metal riddled with bullet holes.
We saw a few mule deer in the brush south of the mountain. Can you find the doe staring at the camera in this picture?
Artsy shot of the mountains with a distant jet plying the skies.
