Forced Hike


After Research Associate Becca dashed into the desert in pursuit of a jackrabbit without heeding my warning not to, we had something of a forced march back to the car. Unfortunately, we were at the most distant point from the parking lot. Before her transgression, though, we were able to spot some awesome things. Like this cloud over the Organs.






We were surprised to see this snake out this late in the season; my guess is that it's a young gopher snake, but I'm not completely sure.

Some people might mistake it for a rattler, but its narrow head proves otherwise; besides, it had no rattle.
