Off the Beaten Path

Research Associate Becca and I stuck to the east side of Tortugas Mountain this morning, staying off our customary route. Dr. K couldn't make it because of a sprained ankle. Becca and I noticed that this lil' house on the prairie is finally done.

We haven't ventured into this arroyo in some time, and we weren't rewarded for our effort; the place was overgrown with Cat Claw, which tore at skin, clothing and fur.

One of our favorite views of the Organ Mountain peaks peeking over surrounding hills.

Here's a telephoto shot of three hikers on the trail flanking Tortugas, Monte Vista side.

Always surveying the way forward.
