Dynamic Desert Day

A powerful cold front began blowing through the region today, bringing cooler temperatures and a high probability of much-needed rain.  Becca and I were able to get in a long trek before the wind rose to gale force.  The dynamic weather made for optimal photography conditions, and I took these images around Tortugas (Tortoise) Mountain and the Sierra de los Organos.

The close-up of the cholla flower against the blue sky is beautiful, and all the more appreciated because I've never seen a cholla in bloom--they often look like they're on death's door, to me.
