Little Dog With an Attitude

Chamisa
Dr. K, Becca and I did the Grand View Trail this morning because we still had work to do at our High Rolls property; we would have done it yesterday had we not been so tired from our long hike.  On the trail today we met a man and a woman hiking with a small dog on a lead.  We passed each other in close quarters, and I bent down to hold on to Becca's collar so the dogs wouldn't interact.  Their dog seemed perfectly placid--never growled, barked or lurched in Becca's direction--but the man assured us that their dog had "a real attitude."  Perhaps it was an attitude of total indifference.
The land actually slopes this much

Midpoint ramada on the Grand View Trail

Virga in the valley

Rain evaporating before it reaches the ground

Cactus in rock

Headed down the Grand View

Shadowy stretch of trail

Becca enjoys the break from the sun

Hearing thunder

Keeping an eye on the storm

Looking more like rain now

Storm over White Sands

Can't stop photographing the dynamic landscape

Let's add a dead tree for diversity

White Sands

Cloudburst in the Tularosa Basin

Rain pelting the earth with force

The black gravel trail is an old railroad bed

Still coming down hard

What's building over the mountains at our place

You captured the virga over White Sands and surrounding area so beautifully. It's still thundering at our place; no rain yet.
