Just Before 7

A mountain biker left an inner tube at the side of the trail
Becca and I were on the trail before 7:00 this morning in order to get in a moderately-long hike without roasting.  We accomplished that.  We ran into a woman trekker about half a mile in who'd got an even earlier start than us.  She said, "I see you two are starting early as well.  Gotta beat the heat."  The only way to feel semi-comfortable hiking during the hot months in this arid land is to do your hiking before 10:00.  Of course it's possible to hike at any time, but the sun will beat the hell out of you if you're trekking at midday and beyond.

Can't quite make out the insect

Incredible photographs of the flycatcher with an insect in its beak. I guess this will make a nice brunch dish.
