Abbreviate When Too Hot

Headed back on LDR-A (Long Dirt Road-Alternate)
As soon as we departed the CR-V this morning we realized we were in for a very hot hike.  By the time we got to the major arroyo at the bottom of LDR (Long Dirt Road) we decided to make a near U-turn and head up LDR-A (Long Dirt Road-Alternate) to cut the duration of our trek by a third.

We were able to make frequent stops in the shade, and I got some fairly decent photos on the outing.  Needless to say, though, all four of us were happy to get back to our vehicle and hop inside for the short ride home.  We're head for a high of 104F today, three degrees hotter than yesterday.

I love that second photo of the Whitethorn Acacia tree. It's one of my favorite trees because it has such a nice scent when it's blooming.
