Close Encounter of the Snake Kind

A Gopher Snake
About a half mile into our morning  hike we encountered a large Gopher Snake.  It's coloration suggested Rattler, but it had a narrow head and slender tail (sans rattle).  It wasn't too concerned about us, but I convinced it to move off the dirt road for fear somebody would run it over.  (See video)

It was a beautiful morning in the Chihuahuan Desert, sunny with a cooling breeze.  Not a bad way to start a Saturday.
