Bumping into a Friend

Starting to climb west of Tortugas Mountain
About three-fourths through our hike this morning Becca and I ran into our buddy Jimmy, with whom we stood and chatted for a good twenty minutes.  He and I are both interested in the history of the Mesilla Valley and environs, so we exchanged stories we'd learned about various pioneers who called this portion of the Chihuahuan Desert home.  It was time well spent because Jimmy is very knowledgeable about this area because he's a native Las Crucen with an active curiosity.
