Photo-Ops on the Grand View Trail

Photo stop after a steep climb to the upper section of the trail
Dr. K, Becca and I got a fairly early start for a hike on the Grand View Trail just outside of High Rolls, New Mexico.  Despite the persistent wind the sky was pretty clear, making for some outstanding views into the Tularosa Basin.  Both going and coming we ran into an elderly woman with two loose dogs, who, upon first seeing us, came running toward Becca at full speed (that is, the canines came running).  It was a friendly enough encounter until the smaller dog, BJ--a Chihuahua with a Napoleon complex--began barking at the Beckster.  When we met them again as we were heading back, the woman, who Dr. K thought a dead-ringer for Barbara Bush, put her dogs on leads.  I think she was afraid that Becca would bite BJ, though I was concerned the opposite might be true.  But we all had a nice talk about doggie personalities before heading our separate ways.

We saw plenty of fresh horse doo-doo on the trail today, but fortunately didn't run into the horses.
