Crossing the Crosscut Trail

Never stalk a Greater Roadrunner
To avoid a malodorous encounter with our rotting Coyote buddy Becca and I hiked into the upper foothills, took the single-track west down into the lower desert, followed the Crosscut Trail as it cut between two dirt roads, and then followed one branch back to the road heading northwest.  There we picked up the single-track again, trekked back into the high foothills and headed north on the trail back to the Jeep which was parked near the Sunset Area lot.  It was a pleasant, slightly warm outing this morning; we're headed for 82F today.

I wonder how old that ocotillo is. Nice photos of the roadrunner, Packrat.
