Already Toasty

Deer butts
Before we got started this morning Becca spotted a small herd of Mule Deer on our property.  I spent a while taking photos of them through the living room window before stepping outside to try for better images.  After breakfast we hit the Grand View Trail again, encountering, at the lower trailhead, a woman and her two dogs; they were just finishing their hike.  The woman said, "It's hot already.  I thought I'd get an early start, but it wasn't early enough."  And it was already pretty toasty on the trail.  We cut the complete hike a bit short because Becca was hot and seemed to be limping slightly.  We'll have to monitor her today and make a decision tomorrow morning about whether to head up to Cloudcroft for a high mountain trek.

Clouds were interesting this morning

Clouds shredded by high winds

More clouds

Even more clouds

Beautiful boulders at the cut

Boulders and ledges

Found a bit of shade

Ah, that's more like it

Needles and cones
