Willow, Frio and I did what we did yesterday morning--hike the long dirt road north across our section of Chihuahuan Desert--but unlike yesterday we did an even longer trek that incorporated some serious bushwhacking into the outing.
They loved it, and they were quite good (obedient and responsive) through the duration. Willow is getting much better at listening to my commands, and Frio understands what I want when I pull lightly on the lead.
The best part of our time in the desert together this morning?--we ran into absolutely no one. We've been hiking in a remote area where few people go, even though we'll sometimes see other outdoor enthusiasts at a remote distance; we saw none today.
We were out there for nearly two hours, but it was as if Frio hadn't been exercised at all this morning. When we got back he was still full of pee and vinegar, dashing around the house as if he still needed to release some pent-up energy. Willow, the older of the Heelers, is much calmer around the house.

Gorgeous photos of the Claret Cup blossoms--such a vivid shade of red.
