Holiday Weekend Hike

New Mexican sunrise

Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend found Dr. K, the Heelers and me on the southwest side of Tortugas Mountain hiking the long dirt road and ducking into an arroyo for water and a break.  Then, while Dr. K held the Heelers back I did a little exploration for the purpose of taking photographs.

I found an old broken pair of sunglasses and put them, as well as a nose-shaped rock, on a cooperative dead yucca head.  Made for a pretty interesting hippie-type character to photograph.

The morning was a bit overcast and, therefore, not as hot as it might have been.  Although there was a Chevy SUV parked across Tellbrook from the dirt pullout where we parked our CR-V when starting out we ran into nobody during our trek.  A pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning.
