First 3: Klein's Cholla (Cylindropuntia kleiniae) |
On the way we saw a large white SUV navigating down the eastern branch of the long dirt road, and I guessed it was the archer we've run into a few times in the recent past. I was right. By the time we approached the major east/west arroyo he had just stepped out of his vehicle and had opened the rear door to get his archery equipment. We greeted him and continued on our way.
The climb up the steep section of road to our waiting CR-V was especially strenuous and aerobic under the hot desert sun, and we were all glad to finally get inside for the short ride home.

I especially like the photo of the Whitethorn Acacia. Those yellow blossoms are so aromatic--I've always loved their fragrance.
