Only when we crested the long dirt road near our waiting CR-V did a breeze pick up briefly. By then we humans were perspiring fairly profusely.
The five-minute drive home wasn't sufficiently long to permit cooling down in the refreshing air conditioning, so we all dashed to the shelter of our house and the chill of its evaporated air.
