Sure sign of autumn in the desert: leafless Ocotillos

71F when Willow, Frio and I hit the trail this morning, but it felt much hotter--humid, perhaps. After descending LDR-A we turned east into the Tellbrook Arroyo and almost immediately began bushwhacking, exploring arroyos southeast of Tortugas Mountain.
Lots of pulling going on today, especially when the Heelers spotted animals streaking across the desert floor; they were especially interested in a Roadrunner that zipped through a narrow, sandy arroyo in front of us.
Those were the only critters we spotted out there today, and, fortunately, we didn't see any humans, though we did hear one gunshot retort emanating from far east of us.
