1st 2: barrel cactus I photographed yesterday

It was hot out there this morning: 72F when we started off, and, if you can believe my weather app, we're headed for a high of 101F. Pretty tired of these record-breaking temps.
We did our regular hike today, stopping several times for shade and water breaks. Both Willow and Frio seemed fairly thirsty; Dr. K and I were, too.
We saw no other nature lovers during our outing, not even many desert-dwelling critters who call this area home.
