Common Nighthawk in flight

The Common Nighthawk is one of the most difficult birds to photograph in flight; its movements as it gathers insects are very bat-like.  They perch often, but blend in so well with their surroundings they're often difficult to see.  The birds here were out in force on the southwestern flank of Tortugas Mountain this morning, hunting for breakfast in the desert chaparral.
