Another Solo Trek

Light and shadow on Tortugas's western flank
Hiking without Becca is simply not as much fun.  For one thing, I tend to get more deeply lost in thought when I don't have to monitor her.  Also, because my senses are less keen, I'm sure I'm missing out on wildlife sightings.  Because dogs live in the present moment--rather than dwelling in the past or speculating about the future--they have a tendency to draw that out in their human companions.  Becca has two more days to serve in her one-week hiking-abstinence program.

I love the textures you captured in your first image, Packrat.

You're doing pretty good with your photography without Becca, but admittedly you may have missed seeing coyotes, deer, or jackrabbits.

Thanks, Scott. The remarkable thing about Becca is that not only is her olfactory sense super developed, but her vision is incredibly acute.
