Tortugas Mountain McDonald's Update

The Extra-Territorial Zoning Authority has denied commercial rezoning on the 16 acres south of Dripping Springs Road for now.  Here's a link to the Las Cruces Sun-News article detailing the decision.

Whoo-whoo! Congrats! Did they include any rationale along with their decision?

Neighbors of ours (who are also very good friends) petitioned our municipality for a variance to subdivide their 5.9-acre lot into two lots; minimum lot size around here is 3 acres. Of course, I was opposed to the concept, but I had to keep my mouth shut because these are good friends. I thought the variance would be a shoe-in, but the petitioners were denied the variance (they couldn't demonstrate hardship).

Extra-territorial Zoning Authority. Sounds like a bureaucracy from "Star Wars."

The meeting lasted until 3 a.m. Thursday morning, Scott. I think by then they were too tired to give their rationale.
