This is fantastic news for all lovers of this beautiful Chihuahuan Desert environment. A recent survey showed that 72% of county residents support the national monument designation. One notable exception is the narrow-minded, "conservative" Republican congressman Steve Pearce, who referred to the President's proclamation as a "land grab."

These people are very depressing, Scott. If it were up to them we'd be mining for uranium again in the Grand Canyon.
