Long Trek in Wintry Weather

Adolescent raptor (probably a Red-tailed Hawk) on line beside our house
This morning Becca and I started off our long hike under a heavily-overcast sky that never cleared; in fact, the temperature seemed to drop the longer we were out there.  At least it felt much colder at the end of our trek than it did at the beginning.  We saw nobody during our long journey, but, at the very end, we did run into a woman with two dogs who we often see on a Saturday.  I'm guessing she was starting off later than usual because of the cold, but she was in for a rude awakening if she thought her late start would mean warmer conditions.

The desert looks stark and austere in these photos--but still beautiful.
